My Approach

My teaching philosophy stems from my belief that ALL students can succeed and grow, provided they are interested in learning and practicing. I strive to create a fun, engaging, encouraging, positive, and challenging learning environment for each of my students and inspire them to find joy and fulfillment in music making.

Individualized Instruction

I tailor my teaching to each student's unique learning style, strengths, and weaknesses.  My goal is to help my students achieve their own musical goals and challenge them to grow and develop both technically and musically, no matter the age or experience level.

Well-Rounded Musicians

I strive to foster well-rounded musicians by incorporating music theory and history into lessons.  I do not follow one particular method of string teaching but rather incorporate aspects of various string pedagogues such as Paul Rolland, Shinichi Suzuki, and Shirley Givens.

Life-Long Enjoyment

With a special focus on proper technique, musical literacy, sight-reading, and finding joy in playing music, I strive to set students up with the success and confidence to use and enjoy their string playing skills for a life-time.

Parent Involvement

Parents of young students are encouraged to attend lessons and take an active role in their child's practicing and musical growth.
